After reading about Freewriting, I found that this seems to be something that I tend to do a lot. Freewriting is when you just write and don't edit your work or even stop to look at it. It can often be referred to as garbage or babbling. What I found interesting in the reading is that it said that some people are offended by Freewrites. I just have a hard time understanding why it would be offensive. To me it seems that Freewriting is just another way to say writing for fun or brain storming. No one seems to mind either of those.
Now for why freewriting is important and can help strengthen writing. Freewriting allows the writer to put their own voice into their writing, which is what I like about it. It also allows you to brainstorm ideas and to just practice writing. In order to become good at something you have to practice and writing is no exception.

ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed your feedback about the freewriting excercises. I think it's great that you have already been practicing such an important asset to writing. For me, it's going to take a lot of practice. I am a perfectionist, so it's hard for me to make mistakes and not go back to fix them. I strongly believe it will fun. I love trying new tasks.
I also believe that freewriting can help strengthen my writing. I love how you believe that in order to become good at something you have to practice writing. I have to keep telling myself that:-) So far, I have really enjoyed this class and I am one who doesn't like to write. I feel comfortable about writing anything at this point.

ReplyDeleteI think its great that you do free writing a lot because it really improves your writing when you actually have to think about it. you probally can write some great essays i would like to read some someday because im sure they are just outstanding

I agree with you. I do not see how people can find freewriting offensive. Maybe it is because there are no rules to freewriting? Some people do not do well with having no rules. I kind of like having no rules. I like the idea of being able to write down what I am I thinking and not have to worry about doing it wrong. Freewriting sounds like it is going to be fun. I have never done them before. I have always heard people talk about freewrites, but I have never been told what they are and how to do them, up until now.
